ICA Support and Symposia Sponsorship

The International Commission for Acoustics (ICA) provides support and promotion of meetings on acoustics in several different ways:

  1. ICA/ASA Sponsorship of Specialty Symposia in Acoustics
  2. ICA Endorsement of your meeting or event in Acoustics
    • ICA endorsement gives your event proof of legitimacy and allows the use of the ICA logo on your website and promotional material
  3. ICA logo available for ICA Member Societies
    • ICA member societies are entitled and encouraged to display the ICA logo as evidence of their membership on their websites
  4. Listing of your meeting on the ICA Calendar
    • A comprehensive listing of international conferences, workshops, and acoustical events

ICA Sponsorship of Specialty Symposia in Acoustics

The International Commission for Acoustics (ICA) will consider requests for sponsorship of Specialty Symposia in Acoustics. ICA sponsorship is normally limited to an international symposium on a specialized topic with an anticipated small attendance typically no more than 300. Symposia can include workshops, schools, and other types of meetings on acoustics. Support for specialist regional meetings or national meetings, especially in developing regions, may be considered if the meeting has an international character.

The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) is contributing additional funding to this sponsorship program for support of symposia in developing countries with an anticipated attendance less than 100.

Symposia sponsored by organisations that are members of ICA can apply for a Grant of up to 1500 Euros. This amount of financial support is mainly provided by ICA (and ASA) to contribute towards the expenses associated with participation in the symposia for Distinguished Speakers, Young Scientists and especially for Scientists from Developing Countries. A listing of the symposium will be included in the ICA Calendar of Events.

The year 2020 is the International Year of Sound. It has the goal of reaching out to non-acousticians to make them aware of the importance of sound and its study to society. Symposia that are funded through the ICA/ASA specialty symposium sponsorship program will be expected to mention the IYS 2020 in their opening and include the IYS 2020 logo in their published material.

Due to the restrictions imposed worldwide to reduce the spread of the Covid-19, the IYS2020 become a 2-year celebration of sound and will be extended to 2021.

In the case of larger or non-specialised meetings, application can be made for a grant from IUPAP, the International Union For Pure and Applied Physics or IUTAM, the International Union of Applied and Theoretical Mechanics.

ICA Endorsement of Meetings

Organisers of a meeting or event on acoustics (e.g., a conference or workshop) can apply for endorsement by the ICA. With endorsement, organisers may display the ICA logo on their webpage and other promotional material. This display will help distinguish legitimate conferences from bogus conferences being advertised online. A listing of the meeting will be included in the ICA Calendar of Events.

ICA Logo

ICA member societies are entitled and encouraged to display the ICA logo as evidence of their membership on their websites. Member societies are also encouraged to use it in a similar manner as evidence of their membership of ICA on the promotional material, webpages, and proceedings for their national and regional congresses/conferences/meetings.

This logo can be obtained from the ICA Secretary General.

Should ICA member societies wish to state on the promotional material for congress/conference that the event is “Endorsed by the ICA” and for it to be also identified as such in the ICA calendar of events, then they need to submit an application form so that the ICA has a record of the details.

ICA Calendar of Meetings and Congresses

The purpose of the ICA is to promote international development and collaboration in all fields of acoustics including research, development, education, and standardisation.

One of the means that ICA achieves this objective is to compile a listing of meetings, congresses, and other acoustical events.

Please send your meeting announcements to the ICA Secretary General
